First week in the pod

Molly the Red Sprocker Spaniel

I am so excited to say that I am finally up and running. This is the moment that I have been waiting for with great anticipation, made all the better by having dogs in the pod for each day during my first official week of dog grooming.

We start off with a Molly Monday. Molly, a red Sprocker, enjoyed the full-works package. We went to the field so she could have a nice run round, but with it being so soggy she got well and truly muddified! It was just as well she was getting her groom immediately after. So straight to the pod she went to complete her full works package, before being driven back home.

Tuesday was the day to test the pod with big dogs. We had Viggo, the Vizsla, come in for his de-shed. He was quite an anxious chap, during his first visit to the grooming pod, so we took it slow and made it as stress-free for him as possible. I used my quieter drier on him and gave lots of calm encouragement, which helped to settle him by the end.

It was my first double dog day on Wednesday. We had little Sid came in for his first nail clip. He was such a good boy. I was impressed considering he is less than a year old. The second dog in the pod was Dele, the very handsome cocker spaniel and brother to our Lixxie. He came in for an introduction to grooming, by starting him off with a bath & brush, before going for a full groom next month. I was very impressed with how he took to it and he coped really nicely. I can’t wait to give him a full groom in December and to see the transformation.

Last day of my first grooming week, Thursday, was a little dog day but with a lot of coat! The beautiful pomchi Pickle came in for a bath and brush. For a nervous little girl I was so pleased with how she handled being bathed and brushed. She even let me use the drier without needing the happy hood to cover her ears.

A very successful first week in the pod with dogs of all sizes and variaties paying us a visit. Plus we were able to raise some funds for charity as well. £25 was raised for the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal, thanks to the sale of the Remembrance Day Collar Bows I had commissioned.

Now I’m looking forward to an even busier week coming up, which includes a 3 dog Wednesday! Eeeek!
